Consultation description

This consultative document sets out proposals from HSENI to approve for use in Northern Ireland an updated Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) on “Safe use of lifting equipment (L113)”, drafted by the Health and Safety Executive in Great Britain (HSE).  In these circumstances the current ACOP approval will be withdrawn.

The revised ACOP sets out what dutyholders need to do to comply with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999 (LOLER). It will be of interest to those that work with any lifting equipment provided at work or for the use of people at work, those who employ such people, those that represent them and those people who act as a competent person in the examination of lifting equipment.

Further details regarding the proposed ACOP and guidance are set out in the consultative document above.

The closing date for receipt of comments is no later than noon on 31 August 2016.
